Hey Mark, there are a percentage of people that buy and never do anything.

I've seen this with all sorts of online programs: Colleges, courses, cohorts etc.

Most people do things with it, and we've encouraged people to hit 100 posts in the community, and THAT ALONE will make you a better writer (the sheer act of participating and WRITING makes you a better writer).

How would you describe Copywriting Course to a friend?

So listen, I don’t know exactly what’s in the course.
    I didn’t buy it… yet.
    Why?
    I really don’t know.
From the copy in the newsletters I’m tempted to read it every time, so they must be doing something right.
Try not to read it yourself.

Why are you here? What do you hope to learn?
First, I hope to learn how to be authentic and find my own voice and tone through copy.

Then, reverse engineer the process and apply it to other people and brands to help them find their voice.

“If you can’t help yourself, how can you expect to help others?”
—this is me trying to soften the guilt of been a bit egotistical at first.

What results would you want from it?
Hook people to what ever message needs to be communicated in a

engaging way and—been brutally honest—leverage my skills in the

    digital strategy game.

    Hope this helps.

    Keep on writing.

Thank you for this feedback Felipe!

    I especially loved this quote:

    Much appreciated 🙏🏼

“Join copywriting course. You’ll learn how to write better copy, which is incredibly valuable. But the real reason is you want to go to Neville’s office hours. Bring a question every week and he’ll help give you direction, which will alter the course of your business in a positive way. Basically it’s a way to get 15 minutes a week with someone much smarter than you in business.”

That’s how I describe it. Hope all is well 🙏

That's a pretty great way to put it Kyle!

Might do more Office Hours stuff, that seems to be the most fun 🙂

I'd say the LEAST popular thing we do is the Writing Wednesday, as everyone is working on slightly different stuff, and it's kinda boring for most people to just sit there silently for 2 hours and work.

It's super productive, but not as educational as Thursday's Office Hours (and EDUCATION is why people are in the course)!

I just love being on your email list!

    To answer your questions;

Learn to hotwire your product/service into your ideal customer’s heart strings
Learning is my thing, I love the idea of being a copywriter – but it’s just an idea...
    Sparks!

Really, I’m just a fan and love your mails.

Hey Cathy I love the "hotwire" analogy, never heard it put like that!

Also I'm not mad if you're just sticking around for the emails, totally fine with me 🙂

    • Copywriting Course is the art of persuading someone to to buy your product or service.
    • I think Copywriting is one of the most important skills to learn in the world no matter what profession you have. Everything business is based on selling something. My goal is to become good at selling and making a product look tasty in the customer’s eyes.
    • Improve my writing skills and be better at advertising. If i want to become a copywriter or not is unknown and to be decided once i dive into it and start writing a lot.

Copywriting Course teaches you how to catch peoples attention and convince them to buy your product.
I’m here to improve my communication skills and to learn how to influence people on a bigger scale than just one by one.

I want to make more money by influencing and helping more people more quickly.

Hey John you're totally right.....copywriting is picking the best way to amplify your message to a larger audience!

Totally correct! I'd also say that copywriting is a great way to make video and images as well that convey a message. Writing is great, but we have even more tools today to convey information, and we want to use them all!

I was a member of the copywriting course, but realised that it's just one more thing on my plate, and one more voice in my head, when I need to be a little more focused.

I remain on the list because I love the SWIPE email every week.

Without even googling the definition, here’s my take:

A Copywriting course would typically teach you to write the text that goes along with ads.  I would tell my friend that everything is marketing in some way or another.  That is, we write to convince.  I’d direct them to the amazing book called Influence (I got my 14 yr old daughter to read it).

I recently started a hyper niche newsletter called Going-Places for folks in my area (a few towns outside of Toronto). At the moment, I am not making money but I got an email from a local shawarma place “I’d like you to advertise for us, any budget”.

So, I made a decision to stick to my newsletter and I asked Mr.Shawarma for free shawarmas as draw prize for new and referring subscribers.  (I only had 120 subscribers at the time, now at 170).

I am honestly not sure I’d benefit from your course, I’m here at the moment to pick up on all tidbits of info I can get.  Also I’m observing your newsletter format, tone, technique etc.

Hey Julie I appreciate the feedback, and good luck on your newsletter, awesome job growing it!!

Feel free to stick around for the Friday emails, those alone are like a masterclass in copy and marketing 🙂

I'd explain a copywriting course was a teaching course to educate people into knowing how to write the kind of adverts you see in newspapers and online ads. I'd say I'd hope to learn how to look at the world through the angles of the words.
As for what outcome I'd wish the most, I'd say I want to have a better understanding of how to form an online service.

Thanks for the feedback Robert! Copywriting is definitely more encompassing of images and video nowadays as well, for example this is the rough progression of how mass information transfer has gone:

We now have many options to amplify our message, and I believe copywriting applies to all modes!

This is from your last STUPID email.

Here's my personal goals for the rest of 2022:

    • 100,000 Twitter subs.
    • 100,000 YouTube subs.
    • 200,000 organic visits/mo with 2% conversion.
    • Post 1 audio podcast per week. Every Tuesday.
    • Be guest on 1 podcast per week (reply if interested in having me)!

I really like your content and it was really helpful. Please don't take this reply as rude, mean or criticism.

But I really found all these personal goals very selfish. And it's your writing that teaches men not to write on 'me' terms but 'you' terms.

It would be very nice to have a goal to improve the life of other people.

    And that is my answer.

Copywriting courses help other people to reach their writing goals and start/shape their writing career. Not for followers and authority. All that comes is an advantage, but the primary aim is the person can write a copy after the course.

Sadly, I do not want to complain, but it feels like your goals are about how I can become more popular on social media and sell more courses. I wish your goals were a little more social.

Sorry again for saying all this.

Thanks for every article (specially AIDA one -- changed my writing style)

Hey Mohd, that's fair you feel that way.

I would defend myself by saying those goals were specifically my own "personal" goals.

    Quote

Here's my personal goals for the rest of 2022:

...so these are allowed to be about myself exclusively.

Our business goals revolve all around students and the audiences, but personal goals are by definitely selfish.

In my opinion day-in-and-day out we're working on people's copy and optimizing their business inside the course everyday, so we are helping quite a bit (see wins every single day here): https://copywritingcourse.com/wins

As for your criticism that writing copy isn't for gaining followers, I completely disagree:

    Quote

Copywriting courses help other people to reach their writing goals and start/shape their writing career. Not for followers and authority. All that comes is an advantage, but the primary aim is the person can write a copy after the course.

There's people writing to obscurity there, and no one hears their voice. So having an AUDIENCE THAT LISTENS AND SPREADS YOUR MESSAGE is equally as important.

Thank you for the feedback though.

    • How would you describe Copywriting Course to a friend?

    - Man, they got this unlimited copy critique to a landing page, emails, ads, about me, etc. I mean all copy! They will even rewrite your copy if it really bugs them! AHAHA

    And they reply pretty fast!

    • Why are you here? What do you hope to learn?

    - To get all my copy critiqued, edited, and improved! I hope to learn to be an effective copywriter in my field as a media buyer and a decent ad, landing page, and email copywriter!

    • What results would you want from it?

    - Same as above. 🙂

Hahahha thank you Thomas! We do re-write A LOT OF COPY inside everyday!

We found it's sometimes easier for us (and better for the person getting reviewed) to re-write the copy, rather than try to explain every little change.

They like this more, they learn more, and we like it more. Win/Win!
