    K opywriting K ourse ⇨ C opywriting C ourse

Holy crap, I just realized we've been misspelling 'copywriting course' for 5 years!

    kopywritingkourse-logo-big-kk.png

Apparently the word 'copywriting" doesn't have a 'K' in it.

    kk-cc-correct.png

So I just switched the domain over to CopywritingCourse.com instead.

    kk-to-cc-change-logo.png

That means we have to kill copywritingcourse.com:

    shooting-kopywriting-kcourse-to-cs.gif

    Farewell my friend.

    kk-dead-headstone-grave.png

I've been part of a couple of name changes and here's what I've learned:

Usually no one gives a f*** except you.

    self-centered-everyone-cares.png

It's amusing for like 1 hour then it's back to "OK cool but what can the product do for me?"

    hmmm-thinking-about.png

It's more about what you provide than the name.

    AIDA Formula Action

In fact many people REALLY LIKED the wrong spelling:

    kk-comments-backlash

One major downside of the name, was any abbreviation I made kind of sounds like "KKK" 😳

    Copywriting Course = KK

    Copywriting Course Kommunity = KKK

    Copywriting Course Klub = KKK

    Copywriting Course Kontent = KKK

    Kore Kopywriting Koncepts = KKK

    Copywriting Course Vault = KKV

Really no matter what I abbreviate, it just straight up looks like KKK and that's not cool.

I feel like Krusty The Klown in this situation:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KNtWrC7vfI

This has been a concern for companies, and really messes up any kool & klever names.

    sad-frown.png

The name change helps with professionalism. People on LinkedIn would write "Copywriting Course Certified" on their profile, but it looks goofy to others. The new name is better.

A major downside of this domain change is organic Google traffic will suffer for a while.

Day 2 of change: Organic traffic is down 20%

Day 4 of change: Organic traffic is down 60%

Day 10 of change: Organic traffic is down 90%

    kk-traffic-drop.png

Another downside of the domain change is having to change LOTS of images and do a little rebranding:

    copywriting course logos sample drawings

Ironically having a silly name like "Kopywriting" made me try HARDER to be legitimate.

    work-hard-typing-computer

Like that Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Sue" where the kid gets strong because of his name.

But the strange name made us stand out more, and incited more curiosity. I will miss that.

    Neville tatoos flexing

But let's be real, the main reason is I was finally able to acquire the domain.

    copywritingcourse-domain-computer.png

When I first started it wasn't available, so the K's sufficed (Copywriting Course was just an individual course I sold on AppSumo, it was never intended to be a business).

I will also miss telling people why I spelled it with K's.

"Copywriting is the art of moving words around. Kopywriting is the art of installing information in other people's brains faster."

    one-brain-to-another.png

If you have any links pointing to KopywritingKourse.com, I would be forever gracious if you updated them to CopywritingCourse.com

It's a shame you feel the need to change, although I can see your point I guess. I really enjoy reading your emails. Hope we're not going to lose the kracking kartoons :)

I kind of thought the K words were kool. Certainly easier to find in a search, but I understand the reason to move (and keep the old URL for people who cant remember the change). The only problem is that you now have to compete with all the CCC companies... And Holy Krap there are a lot of them! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCC

You got the domain ... great! Organic traffic down? Keep the old domain and just have it forward people to the new one and you get to keep all of the traffic. Now it is time for sleepless knights (those k's can be really annoying ...) coming up with endless new bad jokes starting with the letter C. You can now truly be content with your content ... I am sure you C what I did there.

Will I miss the K years? No ... in exactly the same way you do not miss the time you were five. Big boy pants time, good luck!

Congrats on grabbing the domain but I'm going to be sooooo sad to see the K gone. It's like the Kardashians of the copywriting world. I'll also never forget how I found you when I googled "what is copywriting" and then binged all your youtube and blog. Okurrrr (said in my best Kardashian voice)!!!

As long as Mr.Stick and your cute overly smiley pic doesn't go away, I think I'll survive.  Love being a student in the copywriting course :)

Hi Neville, I was going to leave you a comment anyways (regardless of the incentive of a free copy)

I first saw the announcement on the Facebook page and I went  "naaah, He didn't"

I was half-mad, half-amused, I mean it's YOU, I think whatever you do is pure genius but this particular one struck a cord. Why?

Because a couple of months ago when I was going to register my website, you were literally my only basis for wanting to use K i.e Kontent Cocoon, I quietly resented everyone who voted for a C instead, I mean Neville used K!! So why not? I grudgingly accepted to go with a C - Contentcocoon.com for the same reasons you shared (not the fact that it wasn't available but for professionalism).

So imagine the shock when I saw the Facebook post and thanksgiving, after reading your mail (that I waited for).

So yeah, my world was slightly rocked but no permanent damages were made. It will be interesting to see how many more people (almost)/made permanent and semi-permanent decisions on the K.

Congratulations on acquiring the C, looking forward to all the C-hanges.

    Kind Regards,

    K

(No, one of my names does actually start with a K :)

Gee, I must admit this hurt a bit.

    KK was my first :)

    It was a gift.

One of the most useful things I ever got from someone.

Before KK, I was a late bloomer and I was struggling with jobs I didn't like for years. It was just hard for me to fall in love with any of the jobs I could get my hands on and I couldn't get much, as I had no degree. When I got the KK, I remember furiously going through the lessons again and again and thinking: This is it - this is what I want to do for a living! KK really spoke to me as it was FUN and it broke rules. It motivated me to dig further, to go out there and make my place under the sun.

BUT... Even if I'm a bit nostalgic about it, the three Ks are never cool. In that sense, I'm glad you've changed the name, plus, the C version sounds much more serious in a CV, so I think it may benefit the community. :)

In the end, we're all over our firsts eventually and it's the content that sells :)

So farewell KK - and thank you for one of the best rides of my life.

    Thank you Marina!

Yeah I agree the K's were fun and whimsical, but on a CV they don't look so hot 😂

Thank you for the kind words, and well try to keep kontinually kreating kontent that konnects with our konstituents!!

Hey K, I actually like the Content Cocoon with C's better too!

Ultimately I don't think the K or C will change much....it was fun while it lasted, but ultimately it had to be done.

Hopefully we'll still be putting out great Kontent :)

    Hey Ian I TOTALLY AGREE!

I actually felt bad when people would include it on a resume or something and it just portrayed a bit of goofiness. Now it looks a bit more legit :)
