How would you make an extra $1,000 in a month?

    Today we're asking people:

How would you make an extra $1,000 in 30 days?

1000 copywriting course moneyThe methods for people to make a measly 100 bucks broke down like this (into three types):1.) Just save the $100  – (also called “The Boring As Shit” method):
    • Save $100 by preparing your own meals and not eating out.
    • Cut out a gym membership.
    • Other boring methods to save $100.
-or-2.) Doing more of what you already do to make an extra $100  – (Fair enough):
    • If you have a job = work 3 extra hours.
    • If you’re a bartender = Work one extra shift.
    • If you’re a freelancer = Find one extra gig or raise rates.
    • If you have extra electronics = Throw a yard sale or sell them on eBay.
-or-3.) Making an extra $100 by HUSTLING up some money – (Ok now we’re using some imagination)!
    • Becoming an Uber or Lyft driver over the weekend.
    • Go to TaskRabbit and grab some gigs.
    • Mowing lawns, installing peep holes in doors, detailing cars, plowing snow etc…
    • Go up to a business and say “I need $50, I can do anything you need.”
    • Buy water from supermarket, keep it cool, sell it at the beach.
    • Post on Craigslist to design a webpage or do SEO for cheap.
    • Take pictures with a nice camera in tourists destinations, charge $5 and email the pictures.
    • Sell your body to desperate old ladies (I’m assuming this one was a joke).
    • See yesterday’s comments for a crap-ton of other ideas.
Basically put relatively little effort into making this extra $100 because it’s easy.  So let’s make this comment thread even MORE interesting:Let’s say I kidnapped your dog, and won’t give him back unless you come up with an extra $1,000….

How would you make an extra $1,000 in 30 days??

     Sincerely,

    Neville Medhora

Hi there, I was trying to resist this one, but can' t help myself. Here you go:

    1. Frugality can be fun.:-) Not only that, I can achieve a measure of health. Eat mostly rice, beans and oats for one month and forage for fruit and vegetables - super fun and adventurous and super cheap, lose weight! Also, ride my bike everywhere - no gas or transit charges and I get free exercise. That would cut back $1000 for me since we eat out a lot. I know it sounds weird, but this is fun for me. Use extra time to catch up on reading.

    2. More proactive idea - and something to do in the evening whilst not watching TV. Divide $1000/30 and don't let a day go by without making $33. Sell some shoes, tutor a kid, babysit (after child is asleep you can plan the next nights $33), hand out fliers, mow a lawn or two, weed a garden, shovel snow, do my friend's taxes or help them on computer. The key is to not let a day go by. But that's just an extension of the $100 one...

    3. A very festive way to make $1000 is to host an event. Since I am raising money for my puppy dog, it's a no-brainer. I would host a Save-My-Dog event. Put up a web site asking for money to save-the-dog. Invite all my family and friends, neighbors to the party where I auction my stuff and events such as group bike rides or hikes for money for the save-the-dog fund. I would probably make a lot more money than $1000 if I market my effort all month using Neville's ideas. :-)

I bet you could charge more money for a monthly mastermind and make the $1,000 in one call :)

@BrokePoland -Some of these are theory, many are not. Including mine. I wrapped it around a goofball story, but the ideas I mentioned at the end have made myself and many other MUCH more than $1k.

If I get too specific, I don't know how much that would help people since most of us have different careers, skills, etc...

Personally, the easiest way for me would be to find an affiliate product that my email list of buyers needs and wants, give a few irresistible bonuses with a time limit to take me up on the offer, and hit the send button. $1k+ easy.

    Or...

I could survey my list on exactly what they want and desire, create it, and sell it to them. $1k+ easy.

    Or...

I could contact my current clients and friends, not via email or text, but actually PICKING UP THE PHONE AND CALLING THEM, see how they're doing in business and life, and see if they need help in my field of expertise. After 2-3 calls, I'd likely very easily have a few projects to start on. (I know this because I've done it, several times.)

    Or...

I have the skill of making people money through automated newsletters online. I could very easily scour the interwebs for a few hours, find 10-20 "ideal" clients to work with and that "direly" need my help, and I contact them.

I'll write the email sequence, build out the marketing funnels, and work with them 'till they're getting their first sales in, or maybe even past what they've paid me depending on the profit potential of their business (That's why I'd find the ideal client to work with)...

Again, all that's more specific to what I do, and have done. But maybe that will help some out. I hope it does!!

I think the biggest thing is to take an idea that works best for us personally, validate the idea quickly, and then massively DO IT. Start putting in the wrench time. You'll probably make more than $1k, but the way will be differently from where you originally started or how you'd thought you would do it.

    Cheerios,

    B

    Oh snap, nice job Nate!

So it looks like you have something going already where you can just tack on some extra hours and come up with the $1,000 bucks.

    Let's see tomorrow how you'd make 10 grand in a month ;)

Ok Thomas, that was actually a pretty good list! I actually like the affiliate thing because that definitely works PLUS provides a helpful service for people.

    NevBox worthy ;)

To make an extra 1000 dollars a month, I'd walk into a co-working space and ask new startups to tell me a little about their products or services. I'd figure out who in my network could benefit from their particular service or product and get permission to sell it for a commissioned fee.

If I wanted to make $1000 in 30 days, I would go around to a bunch of local businesses and sign up as many people as possible for a "learn to do your own digital marketing for your business" seminar.

I think it would book solid pretty quick since these businesses are getting called everyday by all of the other Kommentors on here to sell them these services ;)

$100/ head @ only 15 takers I could book a nice conference room, get some good cookies (not cheap crap-ass cookies), and do my presentation. Walk away with $1000.

Probably make another $1000 immediately in referral business just from attendees feeling overwhelmed by all of the material - even though I would give them a great presentation. Most people just have no desire to do the work.

OR - Create the same presentation and sell it as a product to other go-getters that could do the same presentations in their city. $100 a piece. Spend $200 in FaceBook ads, get only 3 sales a week and and crush the $1000 mark.

OR - go back in time 10 years, build a niche site, and wait 10 years for it to make $1k from adSense

That last one might not work...

I'd make a list of skills I had that are marketable, aka people want. Then I'd use google keyword planner to see which of those skills are searched for (atleast how to learn them) the most. I'd take the top 3 and see what the market for these courses look like on Udemy. Is there already a shit ton of courses with students signed up in them? Do those courses have bad reviews? Are there barely any courses for that skill on Udemy? Are there a bunch of courses, each with no students in them? Find which skill of the top 3 looks like it has the greatest market potential and then create a course on it.

Yeah, I bet you could. That would be easier to scale to $10,000 per month too, instead of daily like I was thinking above.

That could serve as a price anchor too, huh? Assuming you had additional value to give, of course, $1,000 for a monthly mastermind could open the door to $x,xxx+ consults, seminars or (info) products.

PS - I like the way the last 2 posts are making me think. ;)

Here are some dead easy tricks that don't require any know how of anything!

    1. Just buy a giant bag of soylent (www.soylent.me) and only eat that; then you wouldn't even have to eat or buy real food! That will save you tons of dough!

    2. Make your own clothes with hemp plants and a loom. No more buying outfits!

    3. Buy solar panels and sell your unused electricity!

    4. Make a windmill and sell that electricity too!

    6. Donate your plasma once a week, sell a kidney (or two:) ), sell your feces (NO Joke- bit.ly/ZERrOZ)

    5. Do high schooler's homework for them (for a hefty fee)!

The best part about all of these is that you don't need to do any real work, like blogging, advertising, and all that mumbo-jumbo seen above.

So my way of earning $1000 a month would be to set up an Ecommerce website with dropshipping. My “Raison d’être” is that it can be fully automated, and someone else will do all the hard work once it is set up. Of course this requires that you invest in a website, install an ecommerce solution, find a dropshipper and do a lot of gruntwork to get it up and running and then set up some sort of advertising. A lot of work up front, but the benefits are lasting and will give you that extra insulation against any future problems paying the rent.

OMG!!!! I wasn't going to comment today because I didn't think I had any great ideas, but I contacted someone I used to do work for and, long story short, I'm picking up a $1000 check NEXT THURSDAY! I guess the reality is, it doesn't always take a brilliant idea, it just takes initiative... THANKS NEV! (box please!)

I plan on doing this next week:

Create a Udemy course on a hole that I see. There are three courses on the subject and two are totally weak. One has over 2000 students and is well reviewed but is a year old.

I'm going to create this course over a few days. Create the outline, paint a wall in my office for video, turn the outline into keynote slides and produce.

Once edited I am going to post the course with 475 free coupons on a site that is known to have people scoop them up and enroll. Thus I start to create social proof.

At the same time I will post on reddit with 500 free codes offering them in exchange for a review. Most people won't leave a review but even a few will help.

I will take the last 25 codes and ask a few chosen friends and family to enroll and review. Suddenly, 1000 students and at least 20 reviews.

Priced at $39 I need to sell 52 to make my grand, and that's assuming the people come in though Udemy's portal where I have to share the revenue. I plan on driving facebook ads to help drive signups through my link, since I get 97% of that $39 if I get credit for enrollment.

The niche is targeted to specific set of entrepreneurs so finding 1.7 people to sign up should not challenging, but not impossible.

I have an email list of 1000 I almost never pitch to.

I'd spend 10 days writing emails, then do 6 emails every 3 days pitching.

I have about 6 ebooks I sell, so, at say $15 each....

1 - Go to a local source point for a lot of businesses that everyone else hasn't worn out already (biz associations = worn out).

Example: small print and copy shop (forget the big ones, they usually don't know their customers) or a parts store for automotive.

2 - offer to do a free short seminar, just for their customers, in something you know and can assemble quickly.

Example: marketing, or niche it down to Auto Repair Shop Marketing.

This makes the person who sets this up for you look good and credentials/pre-warms you to their customers.

3 - Do the free seminar, give them a lot of good info, then close the seminar with an offer to follow up with them personally to have a free 1/2 hour look at what they're doing. Mention that there will also be a paid seminar soon if there is enough interest.

Be sure to get names and contact info on everyone at the free seminar.

4 - Follow up - if they take you up on the free 1/2 hour have a questionaire or a series of questions that will make it glaringly obvious to them what's the problem in their marketing or whatever other skill you're doing this with.

Don't suggest ANYTHING in the way of how to fix things (you'll lose their respect for giving it away free), just ask probing questions.

Keep following up with those you don't hear from.

5 - Offer either consulting for big money or the paid seminar you'll be doing soon as the solution.

Seminar is the easiest to sell (less expense/committment for them) and can price in the $2-500 range to fill seats quickly/easily.

This should turn up $1K in time to get your dog.

Haha. I thought you'd be asking about $10K/month. I've got my answer refining and almost ready. Just waiting for you to post the question. Pretty sure I'm going to need a NevBox for it, though ;)

Seriously, this has been one of the most helpful series of posts ever.

I'd still paint curb addresses and install peep holes but for 10 Days approx. Then I could stop or continue to make another $1000. Combine this with saving on getting unnecessary things and you're golden.
