    🗞 The S.T.U.P.I.D. Email (5-21-2021)

(Swipe, Thought, Uplifting, Picture, Interesting, Drawing)

This is a fun email for Friday May 21st, 2021. Hope you like it :)

    Swipe:

Here's a nice ad by Nike for a shoe that uses callouts to point out the features and benefits of this shoe.
    nike print ad
They also use a combination of features and benefits in each blurb, like this:
    Feature: Mesh upper
    Benefit: Delivers heel-to-toe breathability
    Feature: Lightweight Phylite midsole
Benefit: Allows the foot to flex with natural motion
    Feature: Flexible foam lining
    Benefit: Provides comfortable support
    Simple and great ad :)

    Thought:

Here's an interesting thought I picked up from a Tweet by a machine learning developer:
    Santiago tweet 6 questions
While he was talking about machine learning projects, these questions can be asked about any business!
I asked them about my own businesses and found some questions I had a difficult time answering.
By narrowing these questions down it could make a business stronger.

    Uplifting:

In a previous S.T.U.P.I.D. Email I mentioned one of my favorite dogs was a friends Shih Tzu named Donnie.
Well here's another friends Shih Tzu named Poe 😍

While Poe and Donnie have never met here's a pic of the two of them 😁

In my office before my new rugs/wallpaper/desks arrive I'm trying to setup a normal call area, and a studio-looking area.
The trick to having different setups is having the least amount of steps for switching between them.
Currently I have to switch volume to a different mic, and then physically move seats. Not bad, but I'm wondering if a single setup might be best.
Wondering if can somehow combine these two🤔

What the studio view looks like...easy to accomplish with a laptop, but on my desk the giant iMac makes this difficult.

What sitting at my desk looks like.

How this looks in the room.

2-part configuration...I'll likely get a REALLY LONG DESK and combine these areas.

I spend entirely way too much time on this kind of stuff, but it's like....really fun 😬

    Interesting:

    winston churchill painting
Winston Churchill tried to make sure he "stayed fresh" in the mind:
"A man can wear out a particular part of his mind by continually using it and tiring it, just in the same way he can wear out the elbows of his coat."
Churchill's suggestion for staying fresh in your main field is not actually just resting, but rather getting interested in other things and hobbies:
"It is not enough merely to switch off the lights which play upon the main and ordinary field of interest, a new field of interest must be illuminated."

    Drawing:

    There's a Mental Model I love called:
Create a "Win Win Win" situation:
    number 1 drawing
👉🏼 How can you make yourself win?
👉🏼 How can you make your customers win?
👉🏼 How can you make the general public win?
If you think of how to make everyone involved in a transaction win, then everyone is happy, and everyone is likely to do more business.
    Example:
I was struggling with getting people to participate in our early community. But I thought of it from the customer's point of view:
They spend a ton of time on my platform, make my platform better, and they still pay me.
I was winning much more than them 😐
So I decided to flip it around where I get benefit from the community, but THEY also get tons of benefits! So we added a feature where we review all their copy, no matter what they post. This is a huge benefit for the customer. It ended up becoming the primary motivation for people to join the community.

Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday :)

P.S. In June we're doing a class where we write a 3-sequence autoresponder alongside you for a product (or service) you currently sell. !
