    The S.T.U.P.I.D. Email (3-19-2021)

(Swipe, Thought, Uplifting, Picture, Interesting, Drawing)

This is a fun email for Friday March 19th, 2021. Hope you like it :)

    Swipe:

This handheld vacuum company wants to show their product is lighter than a typical dust buster, so they cleverly put it on a scale to "show" that it's lighter!
I thought this simple picture SUPER CLEARLY demonstrates the point rather than trying to describe it's lightness in text:

    Thought:

The famous copywriter Joseph Sugarman would always say the job of a headline was to act like a "slippery slope” in which the reader would be:
    Sucked in by the headline.
…then sucked in by the 2nd line.
……..then sucked in by the 3rd line.
    …………and so forth.

    Uplifting:

The “90-9-1 Rule” states for any public group:
    90% of people just lurk.
    9% of people casually participate.
1% of people create most of the content.
This applies to friend groups, political parties, social networks.
You can have an outsized impact by creating content:

Let’s say you have 1,000 friends on Facebook and we apply this 90-9-1 Rule to it, here’s how it breaks down:
1% of 1,000 = 10 friends that post allllll the time.
    9% of 1,000 = 90 friends that post from time-to-time.
90% of 1,000 = 900 friends that never really post.
    90 9 1 community chart
Generally most of the content produced by a group is coming out of just 1% of the group, much of the chatter is coming from just 9% of the group, and 90% is normally silent.
Here’s how that equates to some real life groups:

The reason this "90-9-1 Rule" is uplifting is that anytime you see people fighting about anything (religion, schooling, politics), all that fighting is done by a SUPER SMALL GROUP!
That means most everyone is level headed and chill about it, and all the fighting is just what's being produced by mainly 1% of the people :-)

I'm moving my office into this 13 X 14 room (it's currently being painted). It has a little extra space for a closet and a little extra space by the window.
I'll update over the month how I plan to design it!
    New office before
I'm still deciding what kind of backgrounds and stuff to put in the new office, I really did like this wood-looking background in the last office!

    Interesting:

The economics of promoting houses through direct mail are ridiculous.
For about $1,000 you can spam an entire large zip code with double-sided glossy cards. Do it 3 times for max exposure.
    Make just 1 sale:
    • Home Cost: $1,500,000
    • 6% Commission: $90,000
    • Cost of 3 flyer drops: $3,000

    Drawing:

Here's a Mental Model for when you're stuck on how to proceed:
    Copy someone image
You're probably not the only one to have your problem. Whey re-invent the wheel when you can see how others have done it?
Adopt the good moves, discard the bad moves, and proceed!

Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday :)
