This is a fun email for Friday July 23rd, 2021. Hope you like it :)
Swipe:
This iconic advertising campaign for the Volkswagen Beetle was created by the Doyle Dane Bernback advertising agency in the 1950's and 1960's.
They needed a fun and quirky campaign to advertise this fun and quirky car (and also to kind of "shake off" that stigma of a car made in Germany, which in the 1950's was a little dicey association).
These are some of my favorites:
The ads "make fun of" the small size of car, being completely honest about how tiny it is:
While it was small in size, it was also small in price, which was a HUGE selling point for the Beetle:
Thought:
Let's say you were writing a sales page and "zoomed out" at it. It might seem big and scary, but really it's just a bunch of little sections squeezed together:
For example, this sales page might seem like a super long complex page, but in reality it's just a combination of these sections put together!

Uplifting:
Just a reminder to focus on things you can control....aka things that are inside your "Circle of Influence:
External: Not in your control.
Circle of Influence: Things you can potentially change.
Circle of Control: Things you have control over all the time.

Picture:
My home office/studio is starting to come more together. A few tweaks to background and lighting and it should be ready to go!
Putting in a rug:

The interview/studio area goes behind my regular working area:

When zoomed in you can see how a guest interview shot looks:

Interesting:
When self publishing a book a few years ago, I decided to A/B split test the cover and title.
842 people responded to the survey.
Which one of these do you think won?? A -or- B?

I'll tell you below...

Version A: 21% votes (❌ loser)
"The Ten Commandments of Copywriting"
Version B: 79% votes (✅ winner!)
"The Book Will Teach You How To Write Better"
This is how I've decided which book cover to pick for both books!

Drawing:
I didn't make this, but I thought this was a really cool "demonstration" of how Jupiter's gravity field stops the Earth from getting pummeled by asteroids:

I thought that was a clever and fun way to show an interesting fact!
Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday :)
