Sometimes you have to let go. If you are leaving your job, be a nice guy, drop them your two weeks letter as someone who is courteous. Here is how to write a two weeks’ notice that takes care of your future.
Now, it’s time let’s do it!
1. You already know what to say, say it
See, it does not matter how it happens, you have got to leave one day anyway, so there is no looking for what to say other than you are ready to move.
Here is an example:
Dear Mr. Hensha,
I wish to tender my letter of resignation as Sales Executive Officer for LifeMovesOn Inc. effective February 27, 2017.
The opening of your two weeks’ notice has conveyed two important messages. First, that you are resigning; you can’t be nicer than that. Second, that your resignation takes effect, in two weeks time; I think you have been clear and fair enough.
2. Two weeks’ notice is a courtesy, do it for posterity
When joining the company, you submitted a letter, right? It is the return leg now, but brevity is the rule. You are writing the two weeks’ notice to be a professional who values relationship but don’t stretch it.
Please, don’t go into stories or lengthy epistle, it’s not a novel, and you are not authoring a book!
3. Thank your employer for the lovely time you had with them
Resignation time is not a moment for being sober; it’s a time to look forward with confidence for a brighter future.
Here is an example:
I am expressing my heartfelt gratitude for the experience and career development I had working with you; thank you.
4. Now be friendlier, you could use some good relationship in future
Leaving isn’t fighting or drawing the battle line, no! It’s an opportunity to see the world with its endless opportunities. Thank goodness you are not sacked; you are leaving on your term that’s why you could drop your two weeks’ notice.
Here is an example:
My time working with you had been great moments of my life, your friendship, generosity, and willingness to show me things I didn’t know so that I may grow well and strong professional would be missed. Nothing can take those great memories away.
5. Time to give yourself work clearance, showing you are not leaving any official job undone
You want to clear your name of official negligence. This two weeks’ notice stays in your file, and it is your last official document, so let them know you are not leaving your work undone.
I want to put in on notice that I have completed the entire project directly in my care. Therefore, I am not leaving any job undone and have the clearance of my immediate oversight officer, Mr. Wellington Nestle in this regard.
6. Hey, buddy, close up the letter; it’s time to go!
You can end your letter leaving your contact.
As I look forward to our meeting again in the future, you can contact me on my mobile phone at (800)-333-8630, email at ted21@yahoo.com for further communication.
7. Offer to help if need arises
You are leaving a vacuum; there could be unsettled coast in your department. The only way they won’t feel your moving is if you are useless, but useless people don’t write two weeks’ notice; do they? So, assure them you would help if the need arises. And close up the letter.
I would be ready to help, to make my leaving less turbulent for the company. I am ready to give my support as a way of showing my gratitude for the past years.
Thank you for making my stay with the company so enjoyable.
Best regards,
Ted Quincy
