    🗞 The S.T.U.P.I.D. Email (9-17-2021)

(Swipe, Thought, Uplifting, Picture, Interesting, Drawing)

This is a fun email for Friday September 17th, 2021. Hope you like it :)

🎤 Listen to this email here:

    Swipe:

This is a great "Line and Text" callout ad for old Zenith stereo from 1967:
    zenith-stereo-1967-ad.jpg
Instead of making "Giant Scary Blocks of Text" explaining all these features, the ad uses a line pointing to the feature, and the text explains it.
Often times this combo of image + text conveys information far better than just text!

    Thought:

I'm giving away free t-shirts and swag to the top 5 best comments on this page:

    Basically answer the question:

"How would I make this sales page better?"

Also that company (Ahrefs) will be hiring someone from that thread on as a consultant to help them re-vamp 5 other pages 😬
All ya gotta do is leave some feedback on the page/copy here!

    Uplifting:

People always recommend shows and movies and books, and I'll often forget them, so I did something brilliant and STARTED WRITING THEM DOWN IN MY PHONE! (So brilliant huh) 😛
    Here's my starting list:
    BOOKS:
    James Dyson ✔️
    Green Light Matthew McConaughey
    SHOWS:
    White lotus
    Ted Lasso ✔️
    HBO comedy show - Acts
    MOVIES:
    Talledega Nights
    Cool Runnings
    Happy Gilmore ✔️
    CaddyShack ✔️
    White Chicks ✔️
    Old School ✔️
    American Pie ✔️
    Road Trip
    Encino Man
    Bubble Boy
    BioDome
    Forgetting Sarah Marshall
    Goodfellas ✔️
    Walk Hard
    WaterBoy
    Idiocracy ✔️
    Back to school
    Malice in the Palace
    Cool hand Luke
    Shang Chi
    Fletch
I should've done this long ago. Now if I want to watch something, I can pull up this list and start going through it.
I always hate sitting down to watch something, then spending 30 minutes just scrolling through streaming services, just to end up watching YouTube instead.
This list has been a huge help!

Apparently there's all these companies now that will throw "cool park experiences" for a fee.
They will show up before hand with tables, pillows, plates, utensils, food etc....and layout an awesome park setup that would otherwise be WAY too much work to do!
Some friends hosted a "White Party" and got a company to do the whole setup:

Then everyone can just hang out and enjoy the evening!

At the end they come and pick everything up! Cool concept :)

    Interesting:

I've been experimenting with what I call a "Living Sales Page."
This means: Sections of the page change on every load.
For example, this section of our sales page is a live updated feed of comments and activity in our member forum:

live-sales-page.jpgThis live updated feed will be different for everyone who visits.

Or this section where we show Recent Member Wins is also live updated, so the wins you'll see will have happened within minutes or hours of someone looking at the sales page:
    members-wins.jpg

I also wanted to practice "Show, Don't Tell" so instead of talking about how much copy is being reviewed inside, we just show live updated stats like this:
    activities-chart-copywriting-course-scal
I think something like this gives more credibility since it's harder to fake.
What do think of this concept of the "Living Sales Page?"
Does it ADD or SUB-STRACT from the main message??
Also open to suggestions on it!

    Drawing:

This is a guy who forgot that Q4 is full of holiday sales 😂
Many online businesses get blindsided by these holidays since they're back to back:
    opportunities.jpg
This is a friendly reminder that if you're planning big promotions or sales for the holidays, you might wanna start getting them ready now 😬
We can actually help you tighten up (or create) these holiday sales inside Copywriting Course:

    • Review your promotional emails for Halloween, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

    • Review your sales pages.

    • Review the copy on throughout your marketing funnel.

    • Build an autoresponder that runs your whole sale.

    • Preparing for Q4 is the best way to utilize Copywriting Course:

Hope you enjoyed these little tidbits, have a happy Friday :)
