    K opywriting K ourse ⇨ C opywriting C ourse

Holy crap, I just realized we've been misspelling 'copywriting course' for 5 years!

    kopywritingkourse-logo-big-kk.png

Apparently the word 'copywriting" doesn't have a 'K' in it.

    kk-cc-correct.png

So I just switched the domain over to CopywritingCourse.com instead.

    kk-to-cc-change-logo.png

That means we have to kill copywritingcourse.com:

    shooting-kopywriting-kcourse-to-cs.gif

    Farewell my friend.

    kk-dead-headstone-grave.png

I've been part of a couple of name changes and here's what I've learned:

Usually no one gives a f*** except you.

    self-centered-everyone-cares.png

It's amusing for like 1 hour then it's back to "OK cool but what can the product do for me?"

    hmmm-thinking-about.png

It's more about what you provide than the name.

    AIDA Formula Action

In fact many people REALLY LIKED the wrong spelling:

    kk-comments-backlash

One major downside of the name, was any abbreviation I made kind of sounds like "KKK" 😳

    Copywriting Course = KK

    Copywriting Course Kommunity = KKK

    Copywriting Course Klub = KKK

    Copywriting Course Kontent = KKK

    Kore Kopywriting Koncepts = KKK

    Copywriting Course Vault = KKV

Really no matter what I abbreviate, it just straight up looks like KKK and that's not cool.

I feel like Krusty The Klown in this situation:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KNtWrC7vfI

This has been a concern for companies, and really messes up any kool & klever names.

    sad-frown.png

The name change helps with professionalism. People on LinkedIn would write "Copywriting Course Certified" on their profile, but it looks goofy to others. The new name is better.

    copywriting course certification certificate

A major downside of this domain change is organic Google traffic will suffer for a while.

Day 2 of change: Organic traffic is down 20%

Day 4 of change: Organic traffic is down 60%

Day 10 of change: Organic traffic is down 90%

    kk-traffic-drop.png

Another downside of the domain change is having to change LOTS of images and do a little rebranding:

    copywriting course logos sample drawings

Ironically having a silly name like "Kopywriting" made me try HARDER to be legitimate.

    work-hard-typing-computer

Like that Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Sue" where the kid gets strong because of his name.

But the strange name made us stand out more, and incited more curiosity. I will miss that.

    Neville tatoos flexing

But let's be real, the main reason is I was finally able to acquire the domain.

    copywritingcourse-domain-computer.png

When I first started it wasn't available, so the K's sufficed (Copywriting Course was just an individual course I sold on AppSumo, it was never intended to be a business).

I will also miss telling people why I spelled it with K's.

"Copywriting is the art of moving words around. Kopywriting is the art of installing information in other people's brains faster."

    one-brain-to-another.png

If you have any links pointing to KopywritingKourse.com, I would be forever gracious if you updated them to CopywritingCourse.com

Hey Keni, that's a great way of putting it! I've seen companies with GREAT branding and very "pretty" websites, but the copy was so bad no one understood what they do. Glad these lessons were passed on to you :)

Bahahahha yeah it was ballsy that there's LITERALLY A SPELLING MISTAKE on it, but overall most people didn't care (although some people definitely hated it).

Yes the StickMan will stay around because he's all I know how to draw 😂

Thanks Rohan! Organic traffic wise honestly the misspelled name worked great. We mainly did it for brand reasons, not SEO reasons, but if it DOES give us a boost I'll take it 😏

Oh man, the people who love proper spelling ALWAYS HATED the K's and it gave them anxiety 😂

Glad it's korrected for you Mark!

I started with KK back in 2010.  This change is outrageous.

Any chance that you will keep the merch the same?  It makes for great conversation.

Thanks for all the help over the years.

How to write better is great. Every time (all the time) I have a mental block on writing I pick it up and read an actual book.

    It makes a huge difference.

I guess I'll stick around, even through this drastic change.

Well all I've got to say is that among the mass of copywriting emails sitting in my inbox waiting for delete...you always make me smile. That and any Johnny Cash reference is a win in my book. I will also miss the old spelling - but glad you are 'PC' and setting it straight.

Hey Neville, i was on your list i dont know how maybe AppSumo for.ages and your emails were good value and you proved your trust by giving some concrete info or a technique that some other internet markerter copy course i paid big bucks for glazed over.. i thought i could write as had majored in creative writing at a top university.... but i was confusing passion for ability as uni was all... literary amd other peoples texts.

My favourite video is the one about writing wacky but not too wacky as that was me fresh.from creative writing school.  It totally clarified things for me.

And the aida sell a helicopter exercise, i have that format and example in Google docs.  Having an example with an audience and product i am unlikely to deal with was actually very helpfulas i couldn't transpose my own biases onto the example.

And the hat. Love the hat.

I like the new name, although the old one was quick to find with a google search. Your free Kopy emails and guides have taught me so much on how to write for the buyer and not the seller. I've sold so much stuff on ebay using the AIDA method. Thanks and good job!

Hey Neville, hope you are doing 'kay.

I came to know about you from a Kopywriting video by Nate Schmidt (he's an E-komm guy but he started from writing Kopy for some businesses and ended up having his own online stores). He mentioned your name a couple of times in his videos on YouTube.

Firstly, I want to appreciate and thank you from my Endocardium for writing these very informative and helpful emails. They are one of the first sources for me to go for anything Kopywriting.

I want to take this chance to ask a question. Hope you can answer.

Thing is, I am stuck with 'how to put myself in from of my potential customers'. I don't know what is it--fear of failure, rejection, or not getting a gig for some reason--but it's stopping me from moving ahead. Maybe it's the pressure of getting a job and then not being able to fulfil what the customer desires and eventually...failing.

I really want to start but I cannot. Can you please advice me on what should I do to move to that next step?

Your help is really appreciated, boss. Thank you so much.
