How would you make an extra $1,000 in a month?

    Today we're asking people:

How would you make an extra $1,000 in 30 days?

1000 copywriting course moneyThe methods for people to make a measly 100 bucks broke down like this (into three types):1.) Just save the $100  – (also called “The Boring As Shit” method):
    • Save $100 by preparing your own meals and not eating out.
    • Cut out a gym membership.
    • Other boring methods to save $100.
-or-2.) Doing more of what you already do to make an extra $100  – (Fair enough):
    • If you have a job = work 3 extra hours.
    • If you’re a bartender = Work one extra shift.
    • If you’re a freelancer = Find one extra gig or raise rates.
    • If you have extra electronics = Throw a yard sale or sell them on eBay.
-or-3.) Making an extra $100 by HUSTLING up some money – (Ok now we’re using some imagination)!
    • Becoming an Uber or Lyft driver over the weekend.
    • Go to TaskRabbit and grab some gigs.
    • Mowing lawns, installing peep holes in doors, detailing cars, plowing snow etc…
    • Go up to a business and say “I need $50, I can do anything you need.”
    • Buy water from supermarket, keep it cool, sell it at the beach.
    • Post on Craigslist to design a webpage or do SEO for cheap.
    • Take pictures with a nice camera in tourists destinations, charge $5 and email the pictures.
    • Sell your body to desperate old ladies (I’m assuming this one was a joke).
    • See yesterday’s comments for a crap-ton of other ideas.
Basically put relatively little effort into making this extra $100 because it’s easy.  So let’s make this comment thread even MORE interesting:Let’s say I kidnapped your dog, and won’t give him back unless you come up with an extra $1,000….

How would you make an extra $1,000 in 30 days??

     Sincerely,

    Neville Medhora

I would help set-up simple 4 pager WordPress sites for businesses in my city using outdated websites which may be hurting their sales.

Intend to get them to pay $50 for the site, but must buy hosting and the theme from my affiliate link. This would add up to $100 + $20 +$50 = $170 per site.

Would need to create 6 sites if done myself. However will surely outsource boring theme installation and set-up so let's say $130/site. 8 sites then.

To reach $1000 quicker, can upsell better Kopy for them, and other services. Also create a landing page, with URGENCY such as 7 sites left at this 'deal'.

I'll make an analysis of online presence of all the business in my city (89.000 people leave here) and made them an 50% discount just for this month for making their website, setting online presence and basic local SEO.

This will give me my 1000 $ and using affiliates for hosting and themes I'll earn the money faster. Even, thanks to the hosting, I'll earn some money every year from affiliates.

I did this in the past and I earn just 500 € for two projects, just making this tactic with 20 business. There's a lot more to be found :D

    Hey Nev,

I just got the email, but it seems I'm at least a month later than the rest of the gang. Good for you for testing what would get me to open... And respond.

Love the idea. Years have gone by where I wanted to make some extra on the side, but (fortunately or not) I've been ok. Comfortable enough that I haven't forced myself to a higher standard. Now that you have my dog (and attention), here are the steps I'll try to make the 1k to get my dog back: 1. Chat with a local business owner on what challenges they have. 2. Find a solution that makes them more money or less angry. 3. Figure out how to deliver it if they want it. 4. If that doesn't work try the process again, or ask for insight from someone (cough you cough) who has done something similar to improve my approach.

Find a 100 local companies. See if they have a website, if they do, see if it needs to be updated.

Create a free 30 day trial square space account for each business. Mockup a simple 3-5 page business website, send the companies an email with a link to the squarespace site of what their site could look like. Include a buy now button.

Collect the setup fee, transfer the site to the business, and Offer upgrade package to include more features/pages.

My friends and I have an annual fantasy football draft party. We do it big. Hotel, food, booze, music, events, the whole 9 yards. After several years of this, I've become pretty great at organizing and throwing these parties.

I would make far more than $1000 a month with pre-bookings for fantasy football draft parties in my home town, Chicago.

I tend to agree - although I'm not convinced getting f***ing rich is the answer either...

Wealth is what I'd prefer over being rich; wealthy in relationships, in health, in LIFE — the stuff money doesn't buy you — like my three boys under age 5 that I get to wrestle and laugh with every day! Not missing them grow up while I chase "the dream" - stuff you can't get back... ya know?

I want to chase something even some of the richest of the rich may not have: WEALTH.

And yet... here I am looking for ways to get an extra $1000... trying not to get distracted. Gah! haha

I'd market some furniture for my in-laws.

The bar stools I sold for them made over a third of that amount, last month.

I will be totally honest, this one would be a little more difficult. I could do some freelance work most likely, but how easy it is to get an extra $1,000 on top of what I am already doing might be difficult. Not enough time in the day (need to stop trading time for money).

I'm actually in this situation now where I need to raise $1000 before the end of next month. So I'm thinking I sell my food photography services. It's a natural badass talent that I very rarely use.

Step 1: Build a quickie website showcasing my work and write some MEAN sales copy.

Step 2: Run a <$20 Facebook ad (or Reddit ad) targeting the food industry. Have it redirect them to the website.

Step 3: Make a media kit that I can automatically send to them with the 3 Tier Pricing options to let them decide on what services they want, i.e., $75, $100, or $150 + expenses (if necessary) when they opt-in for more information.

    $1000/$75 = 13 Customers

    $1000/$100 = 10 Customers

    $1000/$150 = 6-7 Customers

Oh and offer some upgrades, like designing the graphics for advertising your recipe or food on Pinterest so it takes up some real estate.

    Ska-doosh.

I would import one half skid (40 cases = 480 bottles) of premium olive oil @ $3 profit per bottle on a special order and sell it through stores on a monthly special basis.

So in this case, if you had my dog, the truth is that I'd probably sell everything I had to in order to get the $1000 NOW cuz I love my dog. But in a different scenario, where I just needed $1000 more next month, the honest answer is that I'd probably just work more. The interesting thing about my current 'box' is while I have the knowledge to create something different, I don't have a lot of free time to put it together and get it out there in the world (too busy doing this for others' businesses). This is a great eye-opening exercise though ;)

OK thousand in a month.hmmm ....wow this exercise is making you get out of the comfort zone.

Okay I will still do something related to my blog.No seriously I have no idea.

I'd take all the ideas here, tidy and structure them, get them into a great looking eBook, price it at $10 and ask Neville if he'd send a link to it to his list for 50% of the take.

How about it Nev - If I do the work, would you get it out to your list?

How I'd earn $1K, if I desperately needed money. Minus the desperation, I live this, so what I wrote yesterday to earn $100 still stands (copied below)...

That said, let me think creatively again...

    How about:

List all the friends I have with a book they want to promote, then reach out to them one by one on the phone.

I'd craft a script to highlight their book, and help promote it.

I'd invest a small fee at the next book event in my are. That fee is to book a table to talk about my book.

    I don't have a book.

Instead... I'd use that table to open Max's Library. A catalogue of the books of people I know.

When I make that call, I'd pitch a nominal fee for me to promote their book(s) and sell them directly. The first 10 people pay $100 meaning I earn $1K, and prime real estate for ten copies of their book. After that, the price goes up to $150, and that'll help me pay off the investment costs.

Finally, people who don't want to pay that much, can create a flyer for their site, which I'll display at my booth.

For those who say yes, I'd read the book, if small, or read the most important chapters. Then I'd talk it up when the best readers came across.

My booth will be laid out like a real library, in sections so people know where to go for the books that represent their likes and needs.

If I do this well, I'd earn $1K before the book event.

    Word.

What I wrote to earn $100 still stands too...

I’m obsessed with email, plus I’m an email copywriter.

1 – I’d offer an hour of my time to my reader. Give them an email critique where we can focus on what they’re doing well, and where they can improve.

2 – That first option is presumptuous. Maybe they don’t want that. So I instead ask a few Great questions. “How do you feel about your current email strategy?”, “You joined this list to learn more about email best practices, what is one thing you want to learn to help you with your current challenge” or questions still. The response would teach me how I can help. Then I’d offer a $100 offering to do so or…

3 – Draft a $10 Report to sell directly so they can address the concern themselves. This would be a first round ofdering, I’d take the testimonials and results to beef up a second round, maybe add a video or conk station the package, and offer it as a premium product in the future.

4 – Host a live event. Like a brunch where people can have roundtable access to me for an irresistible price than usual. I’d have fun so money wouldn’t be the goal here.

5 – Finally I sell every day via email, so I’d focus on one product for an extra hour to craft an irresistible story that weaves into how my product will help them accomplish what they want.

Aside for my that 6 – I just ask like abum for $10 . If I’m desperate for rent, he’ll yes that’s what I’m doing. Bums can make that in a day by asking. So I’ll do that. Even put on a show. Anything to keep a roof over my head.

Create a product quick that can bring you $35 (or more) per day.

Like one really good info product with high demand (did I hear somebody shouting "keyword research"? yes you are right, you need that indeed) and make it $7. You only need 5 sales a day then.
