Today we're asking people:
How would you make an extra $1,000 in 30 days?
The methods for people to make a measly 100 bucks broke down like this (into three types):1.) Just save the $100 – (also called “The Boring As Shit” method):- Save $100 by preparing your own meals and not eating out.
- Cut out a gym membership.
- Other boring methods to save $100.
- If you have a job = work 3 extra hours.
- If you’re a bartender = Work one extra shift.
- If you’re a freelancer = Find one extra gig or raise rates.
- If you have extra electronics = Throw a yard sale or sell them on eBay.
- Becoming an Uber or Lyft driver over the weekend.
- Go to TaskRabbit and grab some gigs.
- Mowing lawns, installing peep holes in doors, detailing cars, plowing snow etc…
- Go up to a business and say “I need $50, I can do anything you need.”
- Buy water from supermarket, keep it cool, sell it at the beach.
- Post on Craigslist to design a webpage or do SEO for cheap.
- Take pictures with a nice camera in tourists destinations, charge $5 and email the pictures.
- Sell your body to desperate old ladies (I’m assuming this one was a joke).
- See yesterday’s comments for a crap-ton of other ideas.
How Other People Would Make $1,000 In A Month
Ashley: I would sleep on my friends couch on the weekends and list my apartment on Airbnb. Todd Pilcher: I would rent a space at the local Farmers Market and sell my cocktail mixes. Then go to all the C-stores, Grocery Stores in the area to get them to buy 1 case of product. Basically just need to get off my ass any hustle the side gig. Consider these done! Ben: I would register for as many freelancing websites as possible and offer small one off services. Press releases or small SEO jobs. If I can profit $50 off each job then I need to do 20 in a month. John Gonzalez: I would buy a lot of wholesale merchandise and sell them retail at a swapmeet. Gigi: I would my food photography services. It’s a natural badass talent that I very rarely use. James: I would make far more than $1000 a month with pre-bookings for fantasy football draft parties in my home town, Chicago. Amanda: I would hit up Craig’s list and find a car for sale for around $5000, I would bring $3500 cash to purchase it. I’d clean it up, wash it, detail it, get an oil change and turn around and sell it for $7500 and hope to get offered $6500. So flip a car basically!Another thing is I would go I to goodwill and buy men’s shoes, they are $2 a pair but in eBay men will pay $50-$150 for shoes that are brand name. Dave Tolsma: I would find a 100 local companies. See if they have a website, if they do, see if it needs to be updated.Create a free 30 day trial square space account for each business. Mockup a simple 3-5 page business website, send the companies an email with a link to the squarespace site of what their site could look like. Include a buy now button.Collect the setup fee, transfer the site to the business, and Offer upgrade package to include more features/pages. Javi Pastor: I would make an analysis of online presence of all the business in my city (89.000 people leave here) and made them an 50% discount just for this month for making their website, setting online presence and basic local SEO. Neel: I would visit forums and groups where my audience hangs and offer a 4-week free email course. I would upsell it with a $29 and a $49 package. For this upgrade, I would offer them personal access to me by webinar and one-on-one sessions and some more special benefits.Did this recently, the outcome was few times more than $1000 bucks! All done in a month. :) This is not theoretical advice, practical approach that has been implemented. Thomas: I would still paint curb addresses and install peep holes but for 10 Days approx. Then I could stop or continue to make another $1000. Combine this with saving on getting unnecessary things and you’re golden. Chris Kent: I would find 20 people that needed lawn work done. Find a few people that needed work, broker the transaction. Dave Bross I would go to a local source point for a lot of businesses that everyone else hasn’t worn out already (biz associations = worn out). Ian: I would go around to a bunch of local businesses and sign up as many people as possible for a “learn to do your own digital marketing for your business” seminar. Corina Frankie: I would walk into a co-working space and ask new startups to tell me a little about their products or services. I’d figure out who in my network could benefit from their particular service or product and get permission to sell it for a commissioned fee. Teresa: I would write an eBook for Kindle on sex tips for people over age 50 $$$$ Stephanie: I would choose an industry, and offer to help businesses in that industry increase their email subscribers with a Facebook contest. I would set up the campaign for $1000, so I would only need a client. If there’s another challenge tomorrow I’ll show how I would turn that $1k into more. A-ron: I would put together a “hacking” contest for local programmers. I’ll pick some simple game, like connect 4 or checkers or something, and have them build a program to compete in a tournament. I’ll charge, what, 20 buck, and limit the tournament to 100 programmers, and maybe charge others who just want to watch a small entry fee.First prize will be $500, runner up $250, then $250+ goes to some charity. I’m not sure I’ll be able to pocket all $1k, because I have to think about renting a space, and maybe providing some refreshments, maybe hire security, whatever. Jack Reamer: I would cold call 10 SEO companies and ask them if they’d like me to send them new clients. (I assume 100% would say yes.) Then I’d ask them for just $300 for every client that signs up with them. (I assume 50% would say yes because SEO is usually a 2k-5k investment)Then I’d run facebook ads that targeted consultatns who blog and have a household income of 70K+. The ad would be a giveaway for “100 free SEO tips for consultants.” Then I’d use e-mail marketing to show them how SEO can make them more money next year (and how it’s a pain in the ass to do it yourself). Then I’d use KILLLER KOPY to get them to sign up for the best SEO company that agreed to my $300 affiliate deal. John Bushkar: I would work for seniors doing things they cannot do. Living in st pete, there’s no shortage of OPs (old people). Or teaching basic computer lessons to seniors. I’d either make $1000 or shoot someone. Curt Nelson: I would do Real Estate Wholesaling – I would drive around my local town and come up with a list of 20 absentee owners. These are the properties that look like their not cared for. I would get the addresses, look them up online to see if the owner lives out of state, if no one has bought the property in last 10 years or more (15, 20 years even better), and also specifically look for PR deeds and quit claim deeds.These 20 houses before I call them would have to fit all this criteria. Then I would call the owners and see who wants to sell. On the flip side of this since I wouldn’t be buying the house, I would be wholesaling it, I would have to create a list of cash buyers and landlord buyers, the people who like holding real estate long term as rentals so I could wholesale house to them. Gabe: I would put together a photo booth.Talk to all the local photographers and tell them I have a photo booth to rent and if they convince their upcoming weddings to rent the booth for $499/4 hours I’ll give them $100 in commission. Spencer: I would share my hobby of woodworking and love for fatherhood and create a monthly subscription craft/hobby box designed for parents to MAKE time to spend with their children building each months craft. Extra effort and design would be poured into ensuring each months craft was custom, unique and made to last. Goodbye stock paper and wire cleaners! Oscar: I would message all my friends and offer a basic car detail for $35.Seema: I would build a quickie training or eCourse, write an awesome sales page for it and promote the heck out of it on Social Media and Reddit etc. Even if you sold four courses @297 each you could make $1000 in a month. Winson: I would go to the local climbing centre and offer beginners a free 30 minutes coaching session. After each session, I will offer them a coaching package. $40 for a 2hrs session or $120 for 4 * 2hrs session (once a week). Danielle: I would donate my plasma two times a week for the whole month. You are able to donate up to twice a week. I’m a healthy young lady, so this is easy money for me! I have crazy curly, thick hair that is healthy, long and everyone wants it. Seeing quite a few people I know have lost their hair from chemo, I have been growing out my hair to donate it. I can make hundreds from this, even a thousand from selling my hair because of the thickness and length of it. Dillon: I would add a bootcamp class. Charge $10 per person and make the bootcamp 3x per week with 10 clients in the class or more! Iyas: I would take all the ideas here, tidy and structure them, get them into a great looking eBook, price it at $10 and ask Neville if he’d send a link to it to his list for 50% of the take.How about it Nev – If I do the work, would you get it out to your list?
